WHAT IS THE CAHU PAC?

CAHU-PAC, established in 1992 as the political action committee associated with the California Association of Health Underwriters (CAHU). Its mission is to facilitate, with strategically targeted political contributions, the legislative and advocacy program of CAHU with a primary emphasis on supporting the role of the agent in the delivery of private health insurance. Although associated with CAHU, CAHU-PAC is a separate distinct organization with its own Board of Directors.

CAHU PAC is an acronym for The California Association of Health Underwriters Political Action Committee. The American Heritage Dictionary defines a political action committee as:
"A committee formed by business, labor, or other special-interest groups to raise money and make contributions to the campaigns of political candidates whom they support" CAHU PAC is registered with the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC), the California regulating agency as established by The Political Reform Act of 1974. The CAHU PAC registration number is #892177.

WHY SHOULD I CONTRIBUTE TO CAHU PAC?
You should contribute IF:
  • You love your job and you want to keep it.
  • You believe in free enterprise.
  • You want a strong voice in Sacramento.
  • You believe the broker provides a valuable service that a government employee can't offer.
  • You want common ground with legislators so you can explain what your vital role is.
  • You want to take part solving the problems facing the health care delivery system.
  • You want to be part of a team of professional, involved and caring insurance agents
WHAT IS MY MONEY BEING USED FOR?

All political action committees must repot their financial activity. Most of your money is spent on contributions to politicians or targeted support groups. The simple truth is the more money a political action committee has the stronger its’ voice is in Sacramento.

A good example is the "Yes on Proposition 11" campaign. CAHU PAC contributed $100,000.00 to the campaign and CAHU was invited to speak around the state on behalf of this issue. Also Diamond PAC contributors, those who contribute $1,000.00 or more per year to CAHU PAC, were invited to special fund-raising dinners sponsored by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger

Additionally it was with the help of CAHU influence that SB 1522 died in the Assembly because of the August 31 deadline.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN TO ME?

Because of CAHU-PAC contributors, there are people who are politically wise working on your behalf in watching these issues closely.

IT IS JUST THAT SIMPLE!

WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO CONTRIBUTE TODAY
